Samsung SyncMaster PX2370
A very ergonomic LED display
This monitor offers a 23-inch full HD display, fast LED technology and low energy consumption.
Samsung SyncMaster PX2370 benefits both stylish design and sophisticated technology that would enable it to provide high quality display and also low power consumption. Its only real weakness in tests was its ergonomics, somewhat forgotten by designers.
Last year at the CES in Las Vegas, Samsung announced the arrival of its high-end monitor called PX2370, which – as its name suggests – has a 23″ display. In widescreen mode (16 / 9), this product benefits from advanced LED technology and is characterized by astounding features, such as dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000: 1 (1000: 1 True Contrast), a speed of display of only 2 ms (gray to gray) and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (full HD – 1080p). All for a thickness of just one finger (1.8 cm).
Elegant design, but without ergonomics
As usual, Samsung treated the finishing of its monitor very carefully, down to the smallest details. Thus, the SyncMaster PX2370 features a transparent sleek black shell with great finishing, but with low flexibility regarding its possible settings. No rotation, no height adjustment and no pivot function. Not even the opportunity to play with the vertical inclination of the display. Ergonomics were disappointing in our tests performed for this monitor review.
Smart Sensor technology
One of the most interesting functions of the monitor is the ability to save energy through its Smart Sensor technology, which includes both a presence detector and a detector background. While the first is able to pause and turn off the monitor if no one is nearby, the second adjusts screen brightness according to ambient lighting. For the rest, nothing very impressive. The OSD menu allows you to access camera settings (like on each monitor). This device has a VGA connector threefold, DVI, HDMI and HDCP.
An Eco monitor
The Samsung SyncMaster PX2370 monitor is friendly to the environment and has a hull made of recycled cardboard. It will be available from April 2010 onwards in stores and it will come with the usual three-year warranty on its manufacturer’s website. Price for the US market is about 369 U.S. dollars, depending on the store that sells it.
